Justice Kamran khan Mulakhail Takes oath as Chief Justice BHC

QUETTA: The Senior Judge of the Balochistan High Court Mr. Justice Mohammad Kamran Khan Mulakhail has taken the oath as an Acting Chief Justice of the said High Court today.

The Governor Balochistan , Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail administered the oath to Mr. Justice Mohammad Kamran Mulakhail to act as Chief Justice of the High Court.

The Chief Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, advisors and other parliamentarians, Chief Secretary, secretaries and political personalities attended the ceremony.

It may be mentioned here that the President of Pakistan is pleased to appoint Mr. Justice Muhammad Kamran Mulakhail, senior puisne judge of High court to act as Chief Justice of the said court with effect from the date he takes oath of his office, till the appointment of a regular Chief Justice by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.

The Chief Justice BHC, Mr. Justice Rozi Khan Barrech was appointed as judge of the Federal Constitutional Court by President Asif Ali Zardari under Article 175A (3), read with Article 175C, of the newly amended Constitution through the 27th Amendment.

The Balochistan High Court (BHC), headquartered in Quetta, is the highest judicial authority in the province of Balochistan. The Chief Justice of the BHC leads the court and is responsible for overseeing judicial functions, ensuring the implementation of laws, supervising the subordinate judiciary, and maintaining the independence of the judicial system in the province.

Since its establishment, the Balochistan High Court has been headed by several distinguished Chief Justices who played vital roles in strengthening the judicial framework. Each Chief Justice contributed to reforms in case management, improved access to justice, and enhanced the efficiency of court proceedings. Their responsibilities also include administering oath-taking ceremonies, reviewing constitutional petitions, and handling cases related to provincial governance, human rights, security matters, and administrative issues.

Chief Justices of BHC are appointed based on merit and seniority under the Constitution of Pakistan, in consultation with the Judicial Commission and the Parliamentary Committee. Their tenure often includes efforts to modernize the judicial system by introducing digital case tracking, improving infrastructure, and ensuring timely justice for the people of Balochistan.
