RAWALPINDI – The longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Jordan was significantly strengthened during King Abdullah II’s two-day visit, which culminated in the bestowal of a top military honor and commitments for a stronger defense partnership.

The Jordanian King, accompanied by Princess Salma and a high-level delegation, was warmly received by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir. A key part of the visit was a tour of Global Industrial and Defense Solutions (GIDS), where King Abdullah II was briefed on Pakistan’s advancements in defense technology. He expressed his appreciation for the progress made by Pakistan’s defense industry.
Following the briefing, both sides discussed new avenues for defense cooperation and “fully agreed to promote a strong defense partnership.”
The visit then moved to the Tilla Field Firing Range, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined the royal guest. The Jordanian King witnessed a joint military exercise, which included a practical demonstration of air and spectrum warfare capabilities. A highlight was the successful demonstration of modern, multi-purpose drones.

King Abdullah II highly praised the professionalism and high-quality training of the Pakistan Army. In a significant gesture, he awarded General Asim Munir the Order of Military Merit, First Degree—Jordan’s highest military honor.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the deep ties between the two nations, calling their friendship “a bright metaphor for mutual trust.” He stated that the King’s visit marks an important milestone in strengthening the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Jordan.

Earlier Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that he carries out his duties strictly according to the command and will of Allah, and that during the war with India, Allah granted victory and honor to Pakistan.
Speaking at the Presidency during the ceremony where Jordan’s King Abdullah II was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, he stated that Allah enabled Pakistan to stand tall in its conflict with India.
He emphasized that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, but if anyone imposes war on it, the response will be the same as the one delivered in May.
He added that when a Muslim places full trust in Allah, even a handful of dust thrown at the enemy can turn into a powerful missile by His command.
He said that it is by Allah’s special grace that Pakistan defeated its adversary. “This is the army of Allah; our soldiers fight in His name,” he remarked.
