QUETTA : Commentator Tania Bazai has placed direct responsibility for the tragic suicide blast at a Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) rally on the party’s leadership, accusing them of ignoring explicit security warnings from the administration.
In a series of sharp criticisms, Bazai stated that the provincial government had instructed the party not to hold the public meeting on September 6 due to a serious security threat. She revealed that Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat had warned the organizers three times during the event to conclude it early.
“The incident happened at 9:15 pm, 45 minutes after the meeting had ended,” Bazai stated, questioning why the organizers did not heed the administration’s alerts. She further alleged that BNP-M leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal had stopped police from conducting security searches of his people at the venue.
Bazai condemned what she called the leadership’s “stubbornness,” which she claimed prioritized politics over public safety. “The poor are always martyred in explosions; nothing has ever happened to the leaders,” she said, holding the party responsible for the 15 lives lost.
In the aftermath, she contrasted Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti’s visit to the injured with Mengal’s refusal to go to the hospital. She called on Mengal to “be brave,” stand with the victims’ families, and use his “immense resources” to support them.
She concluded by urging the public to question whether their leaders are serious about solving problems or are merely using them for political interests, calling for future decisions to be made with wisdom and prudence to prevent such tragedies.
