PESHAWAR: Pakistan Super League franchise Peshawar Zalmi will play a star-studded Legends XI at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on Saturday in a special exhibition match to support flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam will lead Zalmi in the high-profile fixture, which begins at 1 p.m. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Peshawar Zalmi are jointly organising the event under the banner “Khel Se Khidmat” (Service Through Sports) to raise funds for families displaced by recent floods in KP and Punjab.
The under-construction stadium, with a capacity of 17,000, will host cricket greats including Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, and Kamran Akmal. Organisers set ticket prices at Rs1,000 for general entry, while VIP and VVIP tickets cost Rs10,000 and Rs50,000 respectively. Officials said KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and cabinet members have already bought several top-tier tickets.
All ticket proceeds, sold through local sports complexes, will go directly to relief and rehabilitation efforts, with organisers pledging full transparency. They said the match also aims to unite communities through cricket.
Peshawar Zalmi chairman Javed Afridi said cricket has always served as a unifying force in Pakistan. “This match channels our passion into supporting flood-affected families,” he said. “It is our responsibility to stand with them.”
