KOHLU: The Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department along with local police carried out a joint operation against illegal bird hunting in various parts of Kohlu district of Balochistan, rescuing hundreds of quails from poachers.
According to details, the sudden raids were conducted in different of Kohlu and targeted individuals involved in the illegal hunting, trading, and sale of quails. The officials arrested several suspects in the operation.
The rescued birds were later released back into their natural habitat during a special ceremony held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Kabir Mazari.
While talking to local media, Divisional Forest Officer Jan Muhammad Kakar emphasized that wildlife is a precious part of nature, and illegal hunting will not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that action will continue against those involved in the illegal capture and sale of birds.

Meanwhile, residents and civil society members have urged authorities to tighten surveillance at Levies and FC checkpoints to intercept smugglers bringing in wild birds. Locals have also called for an immediate end to the inhumane trapping of birds using nets in Kohlu and surrounding areas.
