ISLAMABAD : Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack by Khawarij on a police check post in Hangu district, paying tribute to the seven brave personnel who embraced martyrdom while defending the nation.
The attack, which occurred at the Khazina Banda check post, also left 22 police personnel injured, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, while DSP City Diyar Khan was among those martyred. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib, the assailants launched a fierce assault, but police forces retaliated vigorously, killing eight terrorists and injuring six others in the ensuing gun battle.
In an official statement, Interior Minister Naqvi expressed heartfelt sympathy and profound condolences to the families of the martyred personnel. He also prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured officers who are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
“The martyred personnel sacrificed their lives to thwart the evil intentions of the Khawarij,” Naqvi said. He lauded the police force for their timely and effective action, emphasizing that the swift retaliation led to the elimination of eight militants, while the injured terrorists have been taken into custody for further interrogation.
Praising the resilience of the provincial force, the Interior Minister remarked that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police stands on the frontline in the nation’s war against terrorism. “I salute their eternal sacrifices,” he added, reaffirming that the security forces’ resolve remains unshaken.
DPO Hangu has already confirmed that the operation against terrorist elements in the area will continue until the region is completely purged of militant threats. Authorities have cordoned off the surroundings and launched a combing operation to track down any fleeing accomplices.
