Quetta – Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, inaugurated the Urban Forest Park and formally launched the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling.
He said that planting trees is a continuous act of charity and stressed that it is the national and moral responsibility of every citizen to plant at least one tree and ensure its care and protection.
He emphasized that expanding forest cover through large-scale plantation is a pressing need of the present time.
By planting more trees, not only can environmental pollution be controlled, but the surroundings can also be made more beautiful.
He added that afforestation is essential to combat pollution and ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
Explaining the purpose of the project, the Chief Secretary stated that it aims to improve Quetta’s climatic conditions, reduce high temperatures in the city, and address issues related to air quality.
He further said that Urban Forest Parks are part of urban forestry initiatives designed to enhance the environment of cities, preserve natural beauty, and maintain ecological balance.
Shakeel Qadir Khan highlighted that such parks are crucial in reducing carbon content from the environment, thereby improving air quality.
He noted that open space programs and the use of inactive land are also being managed for environmental protection.
The focus, he said, is on maintaining the natural environment while providing citizens with healthy recreational spaces.
