ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced four public holidays for Eidul Azha, from Friday, June 6 to Monday, June 9.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the holiday schedule. All government and private offices, schools, colleges, and banks will stay closed during this time.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon on May 27. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced that Eidul Azha will fall on Saturday, June 7.
The Cabinet Division will issue a formal notification soon.
The long weekend will allow people across Pakistan to celebrate Eid with their families without work interruptions.
Eidul Azha marks the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), who was ready to sacrifice his son to obey Allah’s command.
A key ritual of the festival is Qurbani — the sacrifice of animals such as cows, goats, sheep, or camels, following Islamic teachings.
People distribute the meat among family, relatives, and the poor, promoting compassion, sharing, and the spirit of Eid.
