ISLAMABAD: Petrol and diesel prices have been increased once again across the country.
Petrol prices have gone up by 1.09 rupees, while the price of diesel per liter has been increased by 2.42 rupees.
According to sources, with this latest hike, the new price of petrol nationwide has reached 336.15 rupees, and the price of diesel per liter is now 393.04 rupees.
The Petroleum Division has issued the notification following approval from OGRA.
Over the past three months, fuel prices in Pakistan have experienced significant volatility, heavily influenced by shifting geopolitical dynamics and international crude oil markets.
Following heightened tensions and conflicts in the Middle East, global oil benchmarks surged dramatically, pushing barrel costs past the USD 100 mark.
This external pressure reflected directly on domestic petroleum products, which had previously scaled record peaks near April following regional conflicts.
To better adapt to rapid international rate fluctuations, the federal government introduced a dynamic daily fuel price review mechanism in mid-July, moving away from the conventional fortnightly updates.
Under this system, prices are adjusted based on a seven-day rolling average of global market rates.
Consequently, July witnessed frequent incremental revisions as authorities tried to balance imported inflation and exchange rate variations.
By the end of July, the continuous adjustments led to a cumulative uptick over the month.
The official ex-depot rates settled with petrol retailing at approximately Rs 335.06 per litre and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) hovering around Rs 390.62 per litre.
These figures represent a notable stabilization compared to earlier spikes, though consumers continue to feel the pinch of elevated transport and energy costs.
The Ministry of Petroleum maintains that continuous oversight and the daily pricing framework are essential to keep domestic fuel prices aligned with global realities while cushioning the national economy against external shocks.
