US Declares Pakistan as Mediator in Iran-US Tensions

WASHINGTON:  US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Pakistan is serving as the key mediator in defusing tensions between Iran and the United States, adding that Washington remains in continuous contact with Field Marshal General Asim Munir regarding the matter.

Speaking to journalists in Sweden, the US Secretary of State emphasized that the final decision regarding a diplomatic agreement rests with Iran.

While affirming that the US is actively working toward a deal, Rubio noted that a “Plan B” is also in place.

He further claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened and confirmed that Field Marshal Asim Munir is currently visiting Iran, reiterating that securing a deal with Tehran remains a top priority for the US. Additionally, Rubio mentioned that the UN platform is being utilized to prevent Iran from imposing illegal toll taxes.
