Pakistan Rejects ‘One-Sided’ UK Envoy Remarks on Afghan Border Situation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday rejected remarks by the British Special Representative for Afghanistan, calling them one-sided and lacking a proper understanding of the situation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi issued the response after a social media post by the British envoy.

He said cross-border aggression and militant infiltration from the Afghan side have continued despite Pakistan’s goodwill gesture of a temporary pause announced in March 2026.

He stated that Afghan Taliban fighters carried out unprovoked attacks, while India-linked proxies operating from Afghan territory conducted militant activities inside Pakistan.

These incidents, he said, have resulted in the deaths of 52 civilians and injuries to 84 others.

Pakistan responded with restraint but took targeted action against militant positions and support infrastructure, Andrabi said.

He added that security forces also foiled multiple infiltration attempts.

He rejected Afghan claims of civilian casualties caused by Pakistan’s actions, calling them unsubstantiated.

Andrabi said such remarks ignore the root causes of terrorism and fail to present a balanced and objective view.

He urged a better understanding of regional dynamics and Pakistan’s position.

He also highlighted the sacrifices made by the Pakistani people in the fight against terrorism.
