WASHINGTON :  President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Iran on Sunday, warning of possible new military strikes and describing the Islamic Republic as a “confused” nation that has yet to pay a “high price” for its actions.

In a series of statements posted on Truth Social, the president said he had been briefed on a proposed deal with Tehran but remained deeply skeptical. “I will be informed of the actual words of this proposal soon. I will review it soon. I cannot think that Iran’s proposals will be acceptable,” Trump wrote.

The president also suggested that the U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz — a vital chokepoint for global oil shipments — was being conducted in a “very friendly” manner. He did not elaborate on what he meant by that characterization. “Our blockade of Iran is a friendly blockade,” he added.

“There are possibilities of attacking Iran again,” Trump said, without specifying whether he was referring to new strikes or a continuation of previous U.S. military actions. “Iran has not paid a high price for what it has done so far.”

Speaking to reporters later, the president described Iran’s current leadership as “confused” and claimed there was no unity among the country’s ruling circles. “Some of the Iranian leadership say one thing, some say another,” Trump said. “The Iranians have no idea who is leading them.”
