QUETTA : Train services across Balochistan have been suspended for two days due to “unavoidable reasons,” Pakistan Railways officials said on Wednesday, leaving passengers stranded and forcing many to seek alternative travel arrangements.
According to railway authorities, the departure of the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar was cancelled on Wednesday, and the train will also not operate on Thursday. Officials added that the inbound Jaffar Express service to Quetta will now be limited up to Jacobabad and will not proceed further into Balochistan.
The suspension has been implemented due to unspecified unavoidable circumstances, railway officials stated, without immediately providing further details about the nature of the disruption.
Other passenger train services originating from Quetta remain affected as well. Officials confirmed that the Bolan Mail service to Karachi and the Chaman Passenger Train service had already been suspended earlier.
The disruption has caused significant inconvenience for passengers across the province, particularly those travelling between Quetta and other major Pakistani cities. With no clarity on when services might resume, many commuters have been forced to arrange alternative transport on short notice.
Pakistan Railways has not yet announced a timeline for the full resumption of train operations in Balochistan. However, officials indicated that services will be restored once conditions return to normal.
