BAHAWALPUR: Teenage arrested in Bahawalpur after the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) alleged that a 17-year-old student attempted to poison his father with assistance from an artificial intelligence tool.
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the teenager allegedly used an AI system to search for information related to preparing and administering poison. The case came to the attention of authorities following intelligence received from abroad.
Teenage Arrested in Bahawalpur After Alleged AI-Assisted Attempt
The NCCIA said the teenager had reportedly established a laboratory at his home, allegedly inspired by crime dramas. Investigators also found evidence suggesting that chemicals had been prepared at the residence.
According to the agency, the student obtained chemicals from Australia and Islamabad for the alleged preparation of poison.
The teenager initially attempted to harm his father, but the attempt was unsuccessful, officials said. He allegedly later turned to an AI system for further guidance in an attempt to carry out the plan again.
The NCCIA director ordered action after receiving intelligence about the case. Investigators subsequently pursued the matter, leading to the arrest of the teenager in Bahawalpur.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged use of AI and the circumstances surrounding the case.
