NEW DELHI: Six passengers were injured after a Swiss Air flight experienced an engine fire shortly after takeoff, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing.
The incident took place at Delhi Airport, and the injured passengers were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to a statement issued by Swiss International Air Lines, Flight LX147 was scheduled to depart from Delhi to Zurich at 1:08 AM local time when one of its engines developed a fault and caught fire.
The airline stated that there were 228 passengers and four children on board at the time of the incident.
Soon after takeoff, the crew detected a problem in one engine, quickly assessed the situation, and as a precaution, decided to land the aircraft immediately and evacuate all passengers.
The statement confirmed that six passengers were taken to the hospital for medical assistance, while all crew members remained safe.
