ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has rejected recent statements made by certain foreign individuals and British Members of Parliament regarding the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, describing the remarks as irresponsible, inaccurate, and an interference in the country’s internal affairs.
In this regard, Pakistan strongly rejects comments made by foreign nationals concerning matters related to Azad Kashmir. The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan and the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir remain committed to protecting the constitutional rights and freedoms of their citizens and urged external actors to refrain from intervening in domestic affairs.
The statement came amid discussions surrounding the activities of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee, whose central office has reportedly been sealed by the authorities.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that individuals making such statements should focus on playing a constructive role within their own countries rather than commenting on issues that fall within Pakistan’s sovereign jurisdiction.
The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan is a democratic and sovereign state capable of managing its internal matters through constitutional and legal mechanisms.
The statement further stressed that acts of vandalism, destruction of public property, and damage to essential public facilities, including hospitals, cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
Pakistan also called upon the British government to take appropriate action against elements that are allegedly supporting banned organizations. The Foreign Office focused on that support for proscribed groups undermines legal frameworks and can contribute to instability.
In this sense, the spokesperson said the government remains dedicated to safeguarding citizens’ rights while ensuring that public safety and national interests are protected.
