South Air Pak has announced the launch of new flight operations connecting Karachi with Gwadar, Turbat, and Quetta, marking a significant development in domestic air connectivity to Balochistan.
In this regard, the initiative aims to improve travel convenience, regional accessibility, and economic integration between major urban and coastal areas of Pakistan.
The expansion reflects its continued commitment to strengthening aviation links in regions that have historically faced limited connectivity options.
The airline confirmed that the first proving flight will take place on 25 May 2026 on the Karachi–Gwadar–Karachi route. This operational test flight is part of standard regulatory procedures required before the start of commercial services.
It is designed to evaluate safety standards, operational readiness, crew performance, and coordination with airport and ground handling teams.
Meanwhile, South Air Pak’s initial network will include routes linking Karachi with Gwadar, Turbat, and Quetta, forming an important domestic air corridor within the country’s southwestern region.
The operations will be supported by nearly two newly inducted ATR aircraft, obtained under a wet lease arrangement from international lessors.
These turboprop aircraft are widely used for short-haul regional flights due to their efficiency and suitability for airports with varying infrastructure and challenging geographical conditions.
So far, the regular scheduled services are expected to commence in the first week of June 2026, subject to final regulatory approvals and completion of operational checks. The airline is expected to announce detailed flight schedules and fare structures closer to the launch date.
However, Aviation stakeholders believe that the introduction of these routes may contribute to increased passenger demand and improved accessibility for remote and underserved areas of Balochistan.
