RAWALPINDI: Pakistani security forces have killed 10 militants and arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator during a series of intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), joint intelligence-based and area sanitization operations were conducted in Surab and Mastung over the past 48 hours as part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign targeting militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.
During operations in Surab, security forces engaged militant hideouts and killed seven militants, the statement said.
In a separate operation in Mastung, security forces killed three militants and arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator allegedly linked to Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan, according to the ISPR.
The military said security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the militants.
Sanitization operations remain underway to clear the area of any remaining militants, the statement added.
The ISPR said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their nationwide counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism and its support networks from the country.
