KALAT: The security forces successfully foiled multiple attempts by militants to establish road blockades and target civilian transport routes in the Rodenjo area during a coordinated operation conducted on May 18.
In this regard, the intelligence received indicated the presence of terrorists in the general area of Rodingo Cross with intentions to establish a road blockade along the RCD Highway.
The security forces launched a series of operations to prevent any disruption to traffic and maintain security in the region.
Meanwhile, at 3:00 AM on May 18, two Commando Combat Teams, under the command senior officers, established ambush positions at Raij Check Post and Rodingo Cross.
Later in the morning, at around 10:50 AM, troops stationed at Raij Check Post observed suspicious militant movement east of the checkpoint.
So far, as terrorists attempted to move onto the RCD Highway to establish a checkpoint, security personnel immediately engaged them. The terrorists fled towards the Sayed Ali Heights area.
In such a way, the militants attempted to block the road and set fire to two trailers near Gaiwan Village, approximately five kilometers south of Rodingo Cross.
A convoy of 17 trailers travelling from Bencha towards Kalat came under attack when armed militants opened fire on two vehicles and attempted to damage the drivers’ cabins.
The troops moved towards the affected area and observed the movement of two unidentified armed individuals east of Gaiwan Village. The security forces pursued and engaged the suspects, resulting in the killing of two militants.
The bodies were recovered from the scene. The officials stated that security operations in the area remain ongoing to ensure peace and stability along the highway.
