Security Forces Demolish Illegal Ephedra Factory in Pishin

PISHIN: In a major crackdown against the illicit drug network, security forces, alongside local administration and police, successfully conducted two Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in Station Colony, Yaro, within the Pishin district.

The operations targeted a manufacturing facility producing ephedra, a key controlled substance frequently utilized in the illicit synthesis of synthetic drugs like ICE (methamphetamine).

During the targeted raids, law enforcement authorities recovered a massive haul of approximately 33,600 kilograms of ephedra, locally known as umaan.

Computed at an estimated market value of Rs. 8,000 per kilogram, the total worth of the confiscated contraband stands at an impressive Rs. 268.8 million.

In strict accordance with legal procedures, the entire stock of seized narcotics and associated illicit materials was thoroughly burnt and destroyed on-site in the presence of police and district administration officials.

Following the successful seizure and destruction phase, authorities deployed heavy machinery to completely demolish the manufacturing plant.

This decisive action ensures that the criminal infrastructure is entirely dismantled, preventing the facility from ever resuming its illegal drug production operations.

Over the past decade, security forces and the Anti-Narcotics Force have intensified counter-narcotics operations across Balochistan, dealing heavy blows to illicit drug networks.

Given the province’s vast and porous borders, law enforcement agencies have prioritized intelligence-based raids to intercept large shipments of narcotics, precursor chemicals, and synthetic drug manufacturing units.

Coordinated crackdowns involving the police,

Frontier Corps, and district administrations have resulted in the multi-million-dollar seizure of hashish, opium, heroin, and ephedra.

Beyond targeting trafficking hubs, authorities have aggressively launched eradication campaigns to destroy thousands of acres of illegal poppy and cannabis cultivation.

By dismantling underground laboratories and blocking regional transit routes, these sustained efforts aim to curb regional drug proliferation, dismantle organized cartels, and safeguard public health and national security.
