QUETTA: Senior lawyers’ leaders have called for increasing Balochistan’s share in the federal budget and quota in legal institutions to bring it on par with other provinces. They made these demands at a ceremony marking the joining of 323 Quetta lawyers into the Independent Lawyers Panel.

Key leaders, including Supreme Court SC Bar Association President Rauf Atta Advocate and Independent Panel Chief Ahsan Bhawan Advocate, addressed the event. They emphasized that lawyers have a history of sacrifice for justice and an independent judiciary.

Ahsan Bhawan stated that for the first time, judges are being appointed on merit, breaking a previous monopoly. He stressed the need to work for stable institutions and a judiciary with independent, honest judges. He also noted that case backlogs in high courts are causing delays for common citizens.
