Electricity Consumers May Get Rs63.94 Billion Relief

KARACHI: Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including those of K-Electric, are likely to receive a major relief of Rs63.94 billion under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.

According to a statement by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, distribution companies (DISCOs) have submitted a request for the first quarterly adjustment of the 2026 calendar year. A hearing on the request is scheduled for May 19.

The application states that capacity charges are expected to decrease by Rs36.83 billion for the period January to March, while system usage charges and market operation fees are set to drop by Rs11.24 billion. It also proposes a reduction of Rs23.51 billion under incremental units.

The final decision regarding the relief for consumers will be made after the NEPRA hearing.
