Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake Jolts Balochistan’s Rakni Area

QUETTA: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Rakni and nearby areas of Balochistan, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and shops.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter was located about 12 kilometers southeast of Rakni, while the depth was recorded at 30 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

No reports of casualties or property damage have been received so far.

It is worth mentioning that just two days earlier, tremors were also felt in Khuzdar and surrounding areas, where a 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded with a depth of 10 kilometers.

On the same day, strong tremors were also felt in several cities including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with a magnitude of 5.2.

The epicenter of that quake was reported near the Tajikistan–Xinjiang border at a depth of 128 kilometers.
