Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast in Northern Pakistan, PMD Says

ISLAMABAD: Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in parts of northern Pakistan over the next 24 hours, while hot and dry conditions are likely to persist in most other regions, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

Scattered rain-thunderstorms were forecast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Isolated rain-windstorms were also expected in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, northeast Balochistan, and upper Sindh.

Partly cloudy weather was predicted in Islamabad, with chances of rain-windstorms and thunderstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy conditions were expected in most districts. Isolated rain-thunderstorms were forecast in areas including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malam Jabba, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Bajaur, Khyber, Kohat, Parachinar, Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Kurram.

In Punjab, rain-windstorms and thunderstorms were expected in districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Sialkot. Light rain with gusty winds was forecast in Murree and the Galliyat region.

In Sindh, hot and dry weather was expected to prevail in most districts. Partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain-thunderstorms were forecast in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad.

Balochistan was expected to remain largely dry. Isolated rain-windstorms were forecast in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Khuzdar, and Chaman.

Partly cloudy weather with isolated rain-thunderstorms was also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
