QUETTA : Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrullah Badini, announced on Wednesday that the district administration has mobilized to manage unusual crowds at petrol pumps and address shortage fears following the suspension of Iranian petrol supplies.
Speaking at a press conference in his office, he assured the public that there is an ample stock of fuel available in the city and that the supply chain is being further strengthened.
He also warned of strict action against anyone involved in hoarding or profiteering.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that while most areas of Balochistan traditionally rely on Iranian fuel supplies, recent disruptions have led to sudden overcrowding at local filling stations.
In response to the potential crisis, the administration immediately contacted the owners of Quetta’s 60 registered petrol pumps to streamline the distribution process.
To meet the surge in demand, 400,000 liters of petrol were delivered to various stations yesterday, followed by another 600,000 liters today.
DC Badini dismissed rumors of an impending fuel dry-out, clarifying that the supply mechanism is operating normally and will remain consistent.
Furthermore, he dispelled the misconception that Iranian petrol has been granted legal status, reiterating that no such decision has been made.
Addressing public grievances, he stated that the administration is monitoring artificial crises caused by hoarders and has already ordered crackdowns on specific pumps reported for short-measuring fuel.
He urged citizens not to panic-buy or rely on unverified rumors, as continuous fuel availability is fully guaranteed.
