LAHORE: The Lahore Police have resolved a major burglary case in the Defense area, where a father and son allegedly stole valuables worth over Rs. 10 million on Eid-ul-Adha under the guise of collecting sacrificial meat.
According to DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, the suspects, identified as Joseph and Jamshed, were arrested from Tibba Gohawa.
On Eid day, the duo rode bicycles through various neighborhoods to conduct reconnaissance (recke), using the excuse of asking for sacrificial meat to assess which houses were empty.
Police stated that before breaking into the targeted house, the suspects rang the doorbell three times to confirm no one was home.
One of the suspects then scaled the gate, entered the house, and remained inside for about an hour.
The DIG Operations confirmed that the suspects stole jewelry, luxury watches, foreign currency, and other valuable items worth more than Rs. 10 million.
To avoid raising suspicion after the burglary, they continued collecting sacrificial meat from neighboring houses.
The suspects were eventually traced and arrested with the help of CCTV footage.
The police have successfully recovered the stolen jewelry, watches, and foreign currency from their possession.
