QUETTA: A prisoner undergoing treatment at the Bolan Medical College (BMC) Hospital escaped from custody, prompting the suspension of five officials, including the security in-charge, police sources confirmed.
The escaped prisoner has been identified as Patwari Taj Muhammad, who was brought from Loralai Jail to the hospital for medical treatment. Muhammad was originally arrested in connection with a murder case.
According to police sources, the incident exposed serious lapses in security arrangements. Following the escape, authorities suspended five officials for negligence in their duties. Among those suspended is Sub-Inspector Manzoor Ahmed, who served as the security in-charge.
In response to the breach, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Loralai has formed an inquiry team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape. The team is headed by the Superintendent of Police (SP).
A formal case has been registered against the suspended officials at Barori Police Station. Additionally, police have filed a separate case against the escaped prisoner and launched a search operation to apprehend him.
Efforts are underway to locate Taj Muhammad, and authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for the security lapse.
