PPP’s Asfandyar Khan Kharal Wins PS-30 Khairpur By-Election

PPP Confident of Victory as It Launches Quetta Local Body Election Campaign

KHAIRPUR :  The Returning Officer for the PS-30 Khairpur by-election has issued Form 47, officially declaring Asfandyar Khan Kharal of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPP) as the winner of the provincial assembly seat.

According to a spokesperson for the Election Commissioner Sindh, Kharal secured 48,986 votes, defeating other candidates from various political parties and independents who contested the by-election.

The by-election, held to fill the vacant provincial assembly seat, saw a voter turnout of 20.53% of the total registered electorate in the constituency. The low participation reflects continued voter apathy, a trend observed in recent by-elections across the province.

Following the Returning Officer’s official announcement of the results, the process of issuing a formal notification declaring Kharal as the successful candidate has been initiated, the spokesperson confirmed.

The Election Commission spokesperson further stated that the results were issued strictly in accordance with the data compiled in Form 47, the official document used to record final vote tallies at the constituency level.

Political observers noted that the PPP’s victory in PS-30 reinforces the party’s stronghold in Khairpur, a district where the party has traditionally enjoyed significant electoral support. However, the low turnout raises questions about voter engagement and the overall political climate in the region.

All candidates and political parties have been urged to maintain peace and accept the election outcome as per the commission’s procedures.
