ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast thunderstorms, strong winds and rain in several parts of the country over the coming days and advised citizens to take precautionary measures.

According to the department, weather conditions are expected to change in upper and central districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder is likely in areas including Dir, Chitral, Malakand, Kohistan and Buner.

The department also predicted rainfall in parts of Malam Jabba, Kalam, Parachinar and Abbottabad. Weather in mountainous regions is expected to remain pleasant.

Officials said Malam Jabba recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours with 67 millimeters of rain.

Authorities advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and adopt safety precautions during severe weather conditions.

The weather department also forecast more rainfall in Lahore in the coming days.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather continued in Karachi, where temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius.

In Islamabad, hot and dry weather is likely to persist. Similar conditions are expected across most southern parts of the country.
