ISLAMABAD : Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has asserted that Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives prevented a global catastrophe, stating that the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir transcend the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaking to media at the Parliament House, Sanaullah credited Pakistan’s mediation, particularly the Iran-US agreement, with paving the way for regional stability and averting the potential destruction of a Third World War. He emphasized that the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal’s contributions to peace are unparalleled.
When a journalist questioned whether Pakistan should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its mediation role, Sanaullah replied that the Nobel Committee would decide on recipients, but maintained that the work done by PM Sharif and Field Marshal Munir is “above the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Sanaullah highlighted that resolving the war situation would stabilize the region and benefit the global economy. He expressed optimism that the lifting of sanctions on Iran would advance regional energy projects, including the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, potentially easing the energy crisis and lowering gas and petrol prices.
On domestic matters, the PM’s advisor affirmed the federal government’s full support for free and fair elections in Azad Kashmir, vowing to thwart any obstacles. He stated Pakistan would abide by the decisions of Azad Kashmir’s elected leadership and stressed that all issues could be resolved through dialogue.
Sanaullah also noted that PM Sharif had invited opposition parties for talks for the fourth time, with opposition members indicating a positive response. He dismissed speculation about federal cabinet changes, clarifying that no discussions on increases, reductions, or reshuffles had taken place, though the Prime Minister holds the authority to make changes as needed.
