LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar from all forms of cricket for two years after an inquiry found he submitted incorrect and incomplete information in a visa application.
The PCB also imposed a fine of Rs1 million following disciplinary proceedings.
In a statement on Thursday, the board said the action stemmed from concerns over information Hamza Nazar provided while applying for a visa through the PCB.
A three-member inquiry committee investigated the matter and gave the player an opportunity to respond before reaching its conclusions.
The committee found that Hamza Nazar failed to disclose complete and accurate information, submitted misleading details and withheld material facts during the visa application process.
After reviewing the committee’s findings, the PCB approved a two-year suspension from all domestic and international cricket, along with the financial penalty.
The suspension bars Hamza Nazar from participating in any domestic or international cricket during the two-year period.
The PCB said it treats cases involving misrepresentation, non-disclosure and misleading information with the utmost seriousness.
It said such conduct was inconsistent with the standards of honesty, professionalism and responsibility expected of individuals associated with Pakistan cricket.
The board added it would not tolerate any action that could damage the reputation of the PCB, Pakistan cricket or its millions of supporters.
