ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker on Thursday to discuss bilateral cooperation and key regional issues, the Foreign Office said.
The two officials reviewed recent regional developments and discussed the security situation in the region.
Dar stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting regional peace and stability.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in efforts to promote lasting peace and security in the region.
Baker appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, the Foreign Office said.
The officials also discussed ways to further expand cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
Baker congratulated Dar and the Pakistani people on the country’s Independence Day.
The two sides agreed on the importance of joint efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and promote peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan-Norway Talks
Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in counterterrorism, efforts to curb illegal immigration, police training and legal assistance.
They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the activities of banned militant groups based there.
Naqvi said Afghan territory continued to be used for terrorist attacks against Pakistan.

The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation on security and law enforcement.
