ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Targets 10 Locations in Afghanistan in Response to Drone Attacks, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said, describing the action as a response to an alleged drone incursion from Afghan territory on September 23, 2026.
In a statement posted on X regarding updates on Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, Tarar said Pakistan strongly condemned what he described as a deliberate and illegal attempt to enter Pakistani territory through drones launched from Afghanistan. He termed the incident a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The minister said Pakistan’s air defence systems detected, tracked and neutralised all the drones before they could reach their intended targets, resulting in the failure of the alleged attack.
Pakistan Targets 10 Locations in Afghanistan in Response to Drone Attacks
According to Tarar, Pakistan subsequently carried out precision air and drone strikes against 10 locations in Afghanistan allegedly being used to launch and store the drones.
He said the strikes were deliberate, precise, measured and proportionate, and were restricted to specific military targets that Pakistan linked directly to the attempted attacks.
Tarar said Pakistan had repeatedly conveyed concerns to the Afghan Taliban government and other relevant parties over the alleged presence of terrorist safe havens and support networks on Afghan soil. He maintained that effective and verifiable action had not been taken to eliminate networks allegedly involved in attacks against Pakistan.
The information minister said Pakistan would not accept or tolerate attacks originating from Afghan territory, whether attributed to militant groups or the Afghan Taliban government. He added that any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would receive an immediate response.

Tarar called on the Afghan Taliban authorities to stop what Pakistan considers hostile activities and fulfil their international obligations by taking concrete, verifiable and sustained action against terrorist elements operating from Afghan territory.

He stressed that Afghan soil should not be used to launch attacks against Pakistan.
At the same time, Tarar said Pakistan did not seek an escalation and remained committed to regional peace, dialogue and constructive engagement. He said this commitment should not be interpreted as weakness or unlimited tolerance of aggressive actions.
The minister reiterated that Pakistan would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and citizens, and would respond firmly to any further provocative action.
