Gwadar: Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in enhancing trade relations with Iran and Central Asia by activating the Gabd Border Terminal.
The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has operationalized the Gabd Border Terminal for TIR (International Road Transport) operations.
This development is expected to greatly boost regional trade through Iran.
The new route via Iran provides a shorter, safer, and more efficient access to Central Asia, reducing dependence on Afghanistan.
The first shipment of meat containers from Karachi to Tashkent has already been cleared and dispatched to Uzbekistan through Iran.
According to NLC, several trade corridors linking China, Iran, and Central Asian states have now been activated.
The Gabd Border Terminal was constructed in March 2024.
Economic experts believe this new route will increase Pakistan’s exports to Central Asia by reducing distance, lowering logistics costs, and improving overall trade efficiency.
This is an important step toward positioning Pakistan as a regional connectivity hub.
The Gabd-Ramdan corridor near Gwadar is expected to become a major trade gateway in the future.
