Pakistan engages in diplomatic efforts as Iran appreciates role in ceasefire talks

ISLAMABAD: Iran has appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to help de-escalate tensions and support a ceasefire amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The acknowledgment came from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where senior diplomat Abbas Araghchi praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and peace.

In this regard, Araghchi held a series of high-level meetings during his visit to Pakistan, engaging with both civilian and military leadership. These discussions included talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The meetings focused on enhancing diplomatic coordination and exploring avenues to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States.

Araghchi commended Pakistan for its balanced and responsible approach during a period of increased tensions. He noted that Islamabad’s efforts to encourage ceasefire initiatives and provide a platform for dialogue reflect its broader commitment to peace in the region.

In this sense, the talks also covered the potential framework for future negotiations between Iran and the United States. So far, both sides agreed on the need to maintain momentum in diplomatic engagements to prevent further escalation and to create conditions conducive to long-term stability.

While no immediate breakthroughs were announced, both sides described the discussions as productive and forward-looking. Further engagements are expected in the coming weeks as efforts continue to advance the negotiation process.

The situation remains closely watched by the international community, with hopes that sustained diplomatic initiatives will contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
