PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Pakistani security forces eliminated two insurgents in targeted quadcopter drone strikes in the northwestern Orakzai district, military officials confirmed, marking an expanding use of tactical unmanned aerial surveillance and precision strikes under “Operation 11 Garaj”.
The precision operation was launched following intelligence reports tracking the movement of Fitna al-Khawarij—the government’s designation for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its network affiliates.
According to security sources, ground units deployed quadcopter reconnaissance technology to pin down the insurgents’ exact positions before initiating a precision aerial attack. Both militants were killed on the spot.
The footage shows aerial surveillance of militants moving along a road and subsequently taking cover near trees and buildings. The drone continues to track the suspected militants before carrying out successive strikes at the identified positions.
The released video shows two separate drone engagements. Security forces said the strikes resulted in the deaths of two militants.
Immediately following the strike, security personnel initiated a comprehensive sanitization and search sweep across the sector to eliminate residual explosive hazards and ensure no secondary hideouts remained active.
The deployment of quadcopter technology reflects an increasing reliance on tactical drone surveillance and precision strikes to clear insurgents from treacherous mountainous border areas with minimal risk to ground forces.
Earlier, security forces killed at least 15 militants of the Fitna al Khawarij during an operation in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, military officials said, dealing a major blow to insurgent networks operating along the Afghan border.
The intelligence-based operation was executed under “Operation 11 Garaj,” an ongoing counter-terrorism offensive across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province aimed at dismantling hideouts of Fitna al-Khawarij—the government’s designation for the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliate groups.
