The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to announce the schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup on Thursday, while England have confirmed a major setback ahead of their upcoming tour of Pakistan, with wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler ruled out because of a hamstring injury.
ICC World Cup 2027 Schedule Announcement
The ICC and Cricket South Africa are scheduled to unveil the World Cup 2027 fixture list in Cape Town on Thursday. The announcement will mark an important step toward the tournament, which is scheduled to be played from October 2 to November 21, 2027.
The one-year countdown to the tournament will begin on October 1, giving cricket fans around the world a clearer picture of the venues, fixtures and participating teams.
According to reports, 10 of the 14 teams expected to feature in the tournament will have been confirmed by September 30. The remaining qualification picture will become clearer as the qualification process progresses.

Alongside the schedule announcement, the ICC is also expected to launch the ticket ballot for the 2027 World Cup.
Fans will be able to register for the ticket ballot from October 1. The process is expected to provide supporters with an opportunity to apply for tickets well ahead of the tournament.
The 2027 edition will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with matches expected to attract significant international attention.
Meanwhile, England have suffered a setback ahead of their upcoming cricket commitments in Pakistan. Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the tour after suffering a hamstring injury.
British media reports said the experienced wicketkeeper-batter will miss the tri-nation series involving England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
England head coach Brendon McCullum confirmed that Buttler will not travel with the team. McCullum also said it remains difficult to determine when the batter will be fit to return to action.
Buttler sustained the injury while batting during England’s second ODI against Sri Lanka. His absence will leave England without one of their most experienced limited-overs players for the upcoming assignment.
The tri-nation series involving England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin on October 18, adding further significance to England’s preparations as they assess their squad options ahead of the tournament.
