New Hyundai Elantra Gets 11,094 Orders on Launch Day

SEOUL: Hyundai’s eighth-generation Elantra has received 11,094 orders on its first day in South Korea, setting a new record for the sedan, according to company figures.

The model is sold as the Avante in South Korea.

The new Elantra surpassed the previous first-day record of 10,058 orders. The seventh-generation model set that record in April 2020.

The strong result comes as SUVs and crossovers continue to gain market share in many countries.

Hyundai has boosted the new Elantra with a larger body, more technology and upgraded trim levels. It has also expanded the hybrid offering.

The top-spec Inspiration trim accounted for 52% of first-day orders. The Premium and Modern trims each accounted for 24%.

The figures suggest strong demand for higher-priced versions of the sedan.

Higher trims offer features such as Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2, Highway Driving Assist 2 and dual wireless charging.

Hyundai has also introduced its Pleos Connect infotainment platform. The company will provide over-the-air software updates across the range.

Hybrid demand rises

Hybrid models accounted for 27.5% of first-day orders. The previous generation recorded a 14.8% share for its hybrid version.

The increase points to growing interest in hybrids as an alternative to petrol cars and fully electric vehicles.

Hyundai has not yet completed official fuel-economy certification for the new hybrid. The company aims to improve fuel efficiency over the previous model.

Pakistan market

The new Elantra could also attract interest in Pakistan, where Hyundai Nishat operates an established sedan lineup.

Hyundai introduced the Elantra 1.6 Special Edition in Pakistan in May 2026. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in August.

The launch shows Hyundai continues to invest in the current Elantra in Pakistan while the new generation gains momentum overseas.

If Hyundai brings the new generation to Pakistan, the hybrid version could attract buyers seeking better fuel economy.

The model would face competition from the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. It would also compete with hybrid crossovers that are gaining popularity in the Pakistani market.

Hyundai has not officially confirmed plans to launch the eighth-generation Elantra in Pakistan.
