KARACHI: Pakistani authorities have seized millions of liters of illegally stored petrol and diesel in a major crackdown on unauthorized petroleum activities near the Sindh-Balochistan border.
In a statement, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said it carried out a large-scale enforcement operation against illegal fuel storage facilities in border areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
OGRA said officials discovered a large quantity of petrol and diesel stored illegally at Hub. The fuel was being kept at an oil depot operating without the required regulatory approvals.
During the operation, authorities found that the privately operated depot lacked an OGRA license and did not possess the mandatory no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Defence.
OGRA’s enforcement team sealed the facility and took control of the seized fuel stocks. Officials later handed the fuel over to the district administration for further legal action.
The regulator said it continues to conduct nationwide operations against illegal fuel storage and unauthorized petroleum activities.
OGRA added that authorities are taking strict action against individuals and businesses found violating petroleum regulations.
