Nationwide Petrol Pump Strike Announced in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has announced a nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps starting tomorrow night at 12:00 AM for an indefinite period, following the breakdown of talks with the Ministry of Petroleum.

In a video statement, Noman Ali Butt, General Secretary of the All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Association, stated that daily fluctuations in petroleum product prices are unacceptable under any circumstances, and they completely reject the government’s proposed daily pricing mechanism.

Under the government’s newly planned pricing mechanism, OGRA was set to issue ex-depot prices for petrol and high-speed diesel on a daily basis, determined by the average global prices of the preceding seven days, while keeping prices unchanged on Saturdays and Sundays. Due to the failure of negotiations, fuel stations across the country will remain closed indefinitely starting tomorrow night.
