Prices of Petrol and Diesel Changed

ISLAMABAD: According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by 35 paisas, bringing its new price to Rs. 315.80 per liter.

Meanwhile, the price of diesel has been increased by Rs. 5.71, setting its new rate at Rs. 360.06 per liter.

These new petroleum prices will take effect starting July 21, 2026, and the adjustments were implemented by the OGRA in accordance with government guidelines.

Since March 2026, fuel prices in Pakistan have experienced significant volatility driven by shifting international market benchmarks, currency fluctuations, and adjustments managed through regulatory frameworks.

At the beginning of March 2026, petrol prices stood at approximately Rs. 266.17 per liter. However, market pressures quickly drove rates upward.

Throughout March and April, the country saw sharp increases, with fuel costs escalating past intermediate spikes and peaking significantly around late April and May 2026, where premium formulations and standard rates approached or exceeded higher thresholds, with records indicating general figures climbing towards the Rs. 360–400 range during peak global market tension.

During this period, regulatory procedures shifted toward frequent monitoring, with prices adjusted to absorb international supply cost changes.

By June and into July 2026, prices experienced corrections and stabilization phases.

Standard super petrol hovered around the Rs. 310 to Rs. 315 range, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) faced distinct adjustments, moving towards higher brackets near Rs. 350 to Rs. 360 per liter following recent notification updates.

These continuous fluctuations have directly influenced national transport costs, logistics frameworks, and overall consumer price indices across the country.
