ISLAMABAD: A leaked audio recording circulating on social media has raised fresh controversy around the activities of a banned Joint Awami Action Committee in Azad Kashmir.
The recording allegedly captures a conversation between Advocate Shah Nawaz and Majid Ali, described by authorities as key figures in the committee.
According to claims surrounding the audio, the two men discuss plans for road blockades and the disruption of public services during upcoming protests.
The recording also purportedly includes discussions on escalating demonstrations and increasing pressure on law enforcement authorities. The authenticity of the audio has not been independently verified.
Authorities and critics of the group have accused the committee of involvement in disruptive activities, including strikes, road closures, damage to public property and attacks on officials. The committee has previously denied allegations of unlawful conduct.
According to claims made by those circulating the recording, one speaker can be heard encouraging the use of provocative slogans to mobilize supporters. The audio also allegedly includes discussion of protest-related arrests and opposition to cooperation with state authorities.
The developments come amid an ongoing crackdown on the banned organization and heightened political tensions in parts of Azad Kashmir.
Analysts supporting the government’s position say public support for restrictions on the committee has grown as concerns over unrest and disruptions have increased. They argue that recent events have strengthened backing for official measures against the group.
The committee has not publicly responded to the latest audio leak allegations.
