KP police form specialised Sniper Squad to tackle terrorism

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KP) Police have established a specialised Sniper Squad equipped with advanced weapons and modern training.

The Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar stated that the new squad will operate in mountainous valleys, border regions, and southern districts as part of ongoing anti-terror operations.

Each unit includes 10 highly trained personnel capable of engaging hidden or long-distance targets with precision.

The police will initially deploy the squad in the southern districts, the Malakand Division, and sensitive border areas to ensure rapid and effective responses to terrorist threats.

To sustain operations during harsh winter conditions, the snipers will use thermal imaging devices that provide clear visibility at night and in low-visibility environments such as fog.

Elite Force officers make up the squad, all of whom completed three months of intensive sniper training to sharpen their defensive and offensive skills.
