RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Tuesday ended a protest sit-in near Adiala Jail and gave the government a one-week ultimatum over access to jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters alongside Khan’s sisters outside the prison, Afridi alleged that authorities again denied meetings between the PTI founder, his family members, parliamentarians and personal doctor.
He said officials created obstacles despite the arrival of the province’s chief executive and mistreated party leaders during the visit.
Afridi expressed concern over Khan’s health, particularly his reported eye condition. He alleged that the government was refusing to allow medical treatment or transfer him to a hospital.
The chief minister demanded that Khan be immediately shifted to a hospital under the supervision of his family and personal doctor.
Afridi warned that if the situation did not change, PTI leaders would return to Adiala Jail next Tuesday with what he described as a “stronger response.”
