NEW YORK: The Kashmiri-American community protest in New York was held outside the United Nations Headquarters, with participants expressing solidarity with the people of Indian-
Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and calling for international attention to the Kashmir dispute.
The demonstration was organised by the World Kashmir Awareness Forum along with Kashmiri-American communities from New York and Washington. A large number of Kashmiri and Pakistani community members, including women, children and elderly people, participated in the protest.
Kashmiri-American community protest in New York calls for UN resolutions
Held under the banner “A Call to the United Nations,” protesters called for the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir and the restoration of human rights in the region.
Participants expressed disappointment over the participation of an Indian representative at the United Nations and urged the international body to address their demands concerning the Kashmir dispute.

The protesters also called for an end to what they described as human-rights violations in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and demanded the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
Memorandum submitted to UN officials
At the conclusion of the demonstration, protesters submitted a memorandum to UN officials, calling for diplomatic intervention aimed at achieving what they described as a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The protest brought together members of the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities in New York and Washington to voice their concerns over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and seek greater international attention to the issue.
