Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered the restoration of access to the global internet after nearly 90 days of widespread restrictions across the country.
The decision comes in the aftermath of tensions and conflict involving the United States and Israel, during which Iranian authorities imposed severe internet blackouts nationwide.
In this regard, internet restrictions in Iran had significantly affected daily life, communication, and access to information for millions of citizens. In addition, the Monitoring organization NetBlocks reported that most Iranians had been without reliable access to the global internet for the past 87 days.
Although some internet services began gradually returning to normal in February, the situation changed again on February 28 after reported military escalations involving the United States and Israel against Iran.
Digital rights groups and international observers have repeatedly expressed concern over prolonged internet restrictions in Iran, stating that such shutdowns disrupt economic activity, educational services, and freedom of information.
The Iranian government has not yet provided a detailed timeline regarding the complete restoration of internet services.
The development is being closely watched by the international community as citizens across Iran await the reopening of access to global communication networks and online platforms.
