ISLAMABAD: Khawaja Asif accuses PTI’s foreign supporters of attempting to engineer a crisis and regime change through fabricated health claims
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has asserted that PTI founder Imran Khan remains in good health, citing the statement of his sister following her recent meeting with the former prime minister, while simultaneously accusing the party’s overseas supporters of peddling a false narrative to destabilize the government.
In his remarks, Khawaja Asif noted that Imran Khan’s sister held a press conference and categorically stated that the founder is “completely fit.” She had visited him alongside other doctors and personally checked his blood pressure, providing what the Defense Minister described as a “definite and decisive” medical update.
However, Asif claimed that this reassuring statement did not sit well with the PTI’s foreign backers. “The statement of the founder’s sister and personal doctor was not liked by the supporters abroad,” he said.
The Defense Minister leveled serious allegations against these overseas elements, stating they deliberately seek to cultivate an atmosphere of grief and anxiety. “They need an environment in which grief and anxiety are created so that fear and panic spread, large-scale protests start, and a crisis is created that can lead to a change of government and the return of the founder,” Khawaja Asif asserted.
He further maintained that the PTI’s political hopes have been dashed, yet efforts to manage the situation persist through foreign media channels. According to Asif, these outlets are being used to insist that Imran Khan’s health is deteriorating rapidly – a claim he categorically dismissed as fabricated and desperate.
The Defense Minister’s statements come amid ongoing speculation regarding the jailed PTI founder’s health, with the government consistently pushing back against opposition narratives of medical neglect.
