JOHANNESBURG: In a tragic incident in South Africa, four Pakistani citizens, including two brothers from Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin district, were killed in a suspected targeted shooting attack, authorities confirmed Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Sajid Ahmed and Zafar Ahmed, both brothers and residents of village Balhar in Mandi Bahauddin district. According to sources, three of the victims belonged to Mandi Bahauddin, while the fourth was a resident of Sialkot district.
The attack occurred late Sunday night when the four Pakistanis were returning home after closing their shop. Unknown armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on them en route, killing all four on the spot, local police officials reported.
South African police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made so far, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
The Pakistani Embassy in South Africa has reportedly been in contact with local authorities, seeking a thorough investigation and swift justice for the victims. The families in Pakistan have been notified of the tragedy.
