RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Saudi Minister of Defence HRH Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening joint efforts to counter attacks targeting the Kingdom under the Makkah Defence Pact.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two leaders held a meeting during which they discussed the prevailing security situation, including recent attacks targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah as well as civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Reaffirm Commitment Under Makkah Defence Pact
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Saudi Defence Minister reiterated their commitment to coordinated efforts in response to security threats under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The two sides also appreciated the outcomes of a recent meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of countries participating in the Makkah pact and underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination among member states.
Regional Security and Defence Cooperation Discussed
The meeting also covered broader regional security developments and matters relating to defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to ISPR, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges.
The Saudi delegation included Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Ojairy, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and Advisor to the Minister of Defence for Intelligence Affairs Professor Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by a Pakistani delegation during the meeting.
The discussions reaffirmed the longstanding defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both sides emphasizing continued coordination on regional security matters.
