TEHRAN: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Tehran, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The officials discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional situation and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
The meeting came as Pakistan stepped up high-level diplomatic contacts to help reduce tensions and support a peaceful resolution to conflicts in the Middle East.
Earlier, ISPR said Munir and Naqvi travelled to Iran as part of Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
Munir’s visit will focus on efforts to advance a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to ISPR.
The officials also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.
Pakistan has consistently called for dialogue and peaceful, lasting and comprehensive solutions to regional conflicts.
The meeting took place as Islamabad continues high-level diplomatic engagement aimed at reducing tensions and creating space for peace efforts.
Pakistan and Iran maintain close contacts on regional security and other issues. Their engagement has gained added importance amid heightened tensions in the region.
Munir and Naqvi’s meeting with the Iranian interior minister forms part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic efforts to support regional peace and stability.
